Editorial Policy
1. Our editorial mission
We do not publish for the sake of traffic or volume. We publish when there is something technically meaningful to contribute, grounded in hands-on project experience on residential, commercial and industrial work in Morocco and on international markets, applied to the code framework used in the United States and in Texas.
Tension One LLC was founded on 15 July 2025. Where an article draws on a project outside the United States, we say so plainly and then tie the lesson to the standards a reader here actually works under. We never present a foreign project as a Texas one.
2. Who creates our content, and how
Editorial direction, technical substance and final responsibility for everything published on tension1.com rest with Joseph Touriri, founder of Tension One LLC and a civil engineer specialized in post-tension slab design and execution.
Drafting is assisted by AI writing tools working from his technical notes, project experience and source documents. Every article is then reviewed line by line by him before publication: the engineering content, the figures, the code references and the worked examples are checked and corrected, and nothing is published that he does not stand behind. We say this openly because the alternative, claiming a purely manual process, would not be accurate.
His background spans post-tensioning projects in several countries, covering the full project lifecycle: preliminary design, structural calculations, tendon layout, stressing sequences and as-built documentation. More detail is on his author page.
3. Our technical standards
Content is written against recognized standards, and we name the edition every time we cite one:
- ACI 318-19, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete
- ACI 423.3R, Recommendations for Concrete Members Prestressed with Unbonded Tendons
- PTI DC80.3, Specification for Unbonded Single Strand Tendons
- PTI DC10.5-24, Specification for Bonded Tendons
- PTI DC10.2-17, Standard Requirements for Analysis of Shallow Concrete Foundations on Expansive Soils
- ASCE/SEI 7-22, Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Structures
- The International Building Code edition adopted by the jurisdiction concerned, together with the applicable Texas and municipal amendments
Standards are revised. A reference is only useful if the edition is stated, so an article that cites a clause without naming the edition it comes from is treated as incomplete and is not published.
Where a calculation is shared, the formulas and the design assumptions behind it are stated explicitly, so a reader can verify the result and adapt it to their own project conditions rather than take it on trust.
4. Fact-checking and accuracy
Before a technical article or resource is published it goes through an internal review:
- Source verification. Technical claims are cross-referenced against the relevant ACI or PTI document, peer-reviewed work or official industry publications, and the edition is recorded.
- Calculation check. Any worked example is recomputed by hand before publication, separately from the draft it appears in.
- Practical validation. Where possible, content is checked against real project experience, so it reflects field conditions and not only theory.
- No invented data. We do not publish a figure, a project, a measurement or a clause number we cannot attribute. Where a number is needed and no sourced value exists, we explain the mechanism behind it instead.
This is a quality process, not a warranty. The limits of what we can guarantee are set out in the disclaimer.
5. Content updates and corrections
Codes and industry practice move. When a significant change to a standard affects something already published, the article is updated and the revision date shown on the page.
If you find a technical error or outdated information, tell us through the contact page. Verified corrections are applied promptly and openly.
6. Independence of editorial content
Editorial content is independent of our commercial activities: consulting, resource sales and affiliate partnerships. A product, book or tool is mentioned because it is useful to the reader, not because of a commercial relationship. Where an affiliate link is present it is disclosed above the link and in line with our affiliate disclosure.
Consulting clients have no influence on the content of our articles and guides.
7. Sponsored content policy
Tension One LLC does not accept sponsored articles or paid editorial placements. If that ever changes, it will be stated here and any sponsored content will be labeled unambiguously at the top of the page.
8. Contact the editorial desk
